Sports activities in Saint Martin:move at your holiday pace.
A waterfront walk, a paddle on the water, a hike or a private session at your villa: staying active in Saint Martin does not need to fill your diary. Here is how to choose activities that fit your stay, on the French side and across Sint Maarten.

01 · Choose
Which sports activities in SXM suit your stay?
Start with what you want from the day. Exploring the island, spending time together and keeping a training routine call for different choices.
| What you want | An option to consider | What to arrange |
|---|---|---|
| Simple movement | A waterfront walk | An accessible route and a comfortable time |
| Time in nature | A hike around Pic Paradis | Access, weather and route difficulty |
| Time on the water | Paddleboarding, kayaking or snorkeling | Local conditions and a suitable operator |
| A structured workout | Private personal training at your villa | Goals, timing and available space |
| A session together | Private training as a couple or group | Number of guests and individual levels |

Five ways to stay active on holiday
1. Explore the island on foot
Walking is an easy way to add movement without setting aside a full day for sport. A walk along the Marigot waterfront can fit around a market visit or an afternoon in town. Choose a suitable pedestrian route rather than assuming busy island roads are comfortable walking routes.
A practical idea: pick a short route near your accommodation and go at a time when the temperature feels comfortable for you.
2. Plan a hike around Pic Paradis
At 424 metres, Pic Paradis is the highest point on Saint Martin and offers a different perspective on the island. The Loterie Farm area is one starting point for planning time in the hills. Routes and access need more preparation than a casual waterfront stroll.
Before setting off: check current access, recent conditions and route difficulty with the site or a local guide. Bring suitable shoes and water.
3. Try a watersport
Paddleboarding, kayaking, snorkeling or an introduction to a boardsport can all be part of an active stay in SXM. Orient Bay is known for its watersports options. Choose an activity that suits your confidence in the water, the wind and the sea conditions rather than committing to a particular outing regardless of the weather.
For a first experience: ask a local operator which session suits your level and the conditions that day. Check equipment, what is included and any rules for protected areas.
4. Make space for mobility
After travelling or a full day out, you may prefer a quieter moment to an intense workout. A few familiar movements in a clear, stable space can give you time to yourself. Adapt the length and effort to your energy instead of trying to reproduce your usual routine exactly.
A practical idea: leave a short window for movement on a shaded terrace or in a ventilated room, with no pressure to fit in a complete workout.
5. Book a private personal trainer
Private training gives your workouts structure without finding a gym or travelling with equipment. I offer one-to-one and shared strength, mobility and conditioning sessions adapted to your level. I come to your villa, hotel or residence across Saint Martin and Sint Maarten, with the training equipment provided.
To arrange a session: share your accommodation, dates, goals and number of guests. We confirm the space and availability before booking.
03 · Your week
An active week, with room to relax
This is a suggestion, not a programme you need to complete. Move activities around the weather, your interests and other bookings. A day with nothing planned belongs in a holiday too.
- Day 1
Find your bearings
Take a walk near your accommodation and leave time to settle in.
- Day 2
A session for yourself
Book a private workout, or enjoy your own familiar routine if you prefer to train alone.
- Day 3
Get out on the water
Choose an activity with a local operator to suit your experience and the conditions.
- Day 4
Keep the day open
Beach time, exploring or rest, with a little walking if you feel like it.
- Day 5
Explore the hills
Try a hike planned in advance, or a shorter walk that suits your energy.
- Day 6
Move together
Share a private session with your partner or friends, or make time for gentle mobility.
- Day 7
Choose your favourite
Return to the activity you enjoyed most, or simply enjoy an unplanned day.
Three details that make planning easier
Location
Allow for travel from your accommodation. For training in a hotel or shared residence gym, confirm access for an outside trainer with the property first.
Conditions
Bring water and suitable clothing. For hiking or time on the water, check the weather and local guidance before you set off.
Pace
Mix activities according to your interests and experience. Leave space between an excursion and a workout instead of filling every available hour.
